
The Higher Teacher Training College (HTTC) Bambili, University of Bamenda, has officially launched the 2025/2026 Competitive Entrance Examination, opening 125 places into the First Year of the First Cycle, according to an official order signed by the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, on 13 January 2026.
The announcement marks the start of the annual recruitment process for future secondary school teachers in Cameroon, with candidates expected to apply across science, arts, language, and humanities disciplines. Also check the second cycle requirements.

Total Number of Places Available
A total of 125 candidates will be admitted for the 2025/2026 academic year, distributed across the following domains:
Fundamental Sciences – 75 Places
- Mathematics – Computer Science (Fundamental) – Technology: 40
- Physics – Chemistry – Technology: 10
- Biology – Chemistry – Geology – Environmental Science: 25
Arts, Languages and Literatures – 40 Places
- French – Arts Education – National Languages and Cultures + One Foreign Language: 10
- English – Arts Education – National Languages and Cultures + One Foreign Language: 10
- One Foreign Language + One Official Language (French or English) – Arts Education – National Languages and Cultures: 10
- Philosophy + One Official Language (French or English) – Citizenship Education: 10
Social Sciences and Humanities – 10 Places
- History – Geography – Citizenship Education – ICT: 10
Who Can Apply?
The examination is open to Cameroonians of both sexes, as well as foreign candidates, subject to available places and existing regulations.
Academic Requirements
Applicants must hold:
- GCE Advanced Level (A/L) in at least two subjects
- GCE Ordinary Level (O/L) in at least four subjects, obtained in one sitting
(Religious Knowledge is not considered)
Candidates with Baccalauréat and Probatoire qualifications in relevant disciplines are also eligible.
Age Limit
- Applicants must be 29 years old at most on 1 January 2026
- No age waiver is permitted.
Application Documents Required
Candidates are required to submit a complete application file, including:
- Registration form (available at HTTC Bambili, MINESEC offices, or online)
- Certified birth certificate (less than 3 months old)
- Certified copies of GCE O/L or Probatoire results
- Certified copies of GCE A/L or Baccalauréat certificates or attestations
- Medical certificate issued by a state medical officer
- Certificate of non-conviction (less than 3 months old)
- Proof of payment of 20,000 FCFA examination fee
- One stamped A4 envelope with candidate’s address
- Two passport-size photographs
- Administrative authorisation for civil servants (where applicable)
The examination fee is non-refundable.

Examination Centres
The written examination will be organised in the following towns:
Bafoussam, Bambili, Buea, Douala, Ngaoundéré, and Yaoundé.
Examination Format
- Academic profile assessment: 25%
- Two written examination papers: 75%
- Marking scale: 0–20
- Any score below 05/20 is eliminatory
Final admission will be based strictly on merit ranking, as determined by the examination jury.
Publication of Results
